The teaser of my participation in the World Listening Day

There are two microphones: one contact microphone on the left front fork and a lavalier microphone (omni), on the right rear fork, pointed to the pinion.

What you ear is what the bike ears: via contact microphone, it is possible to pick up the vibrations that the bicycle receives from the traffic and cars, even when the bike is stopped. More cars there are, more vibrations the contact microphone picks up. With the lavalier microphone, the stress of the pinion is very present, and the soundscape can be captured too.

It is an interior listening, microphones are “the bicycle’s ears”: we can experience how, hypothetically, the bike could ear the city’s sounds.

Il teaser della mia partecipazione al World Listening Day.

Ci sono due microfoni: un microfono a contatto nella forcella anteriore sinistra e un microfono lavalier (omni), nella parte posteriore destra, direzionato verso il pignone.

Quello che si ascolta è quello che ascolta la bici: tramite il microfono a contatto, si riescono a captare le vibrazioni che la bicicletta percepisce dal traffico e dalle macchine, anche quando la bici è ferma al semaforo; più automobili ci sono, più il microfono a contatto non smette di captare vibrazioni. Con il microfono lavalier, lo sforzo del pignone è presente e si ascolta anche l’ambiente.

È un ascolto interiore, come ascoltare con le orecchie della bicicletta e percepire i suoni della città dal suo punto d’ascolto.
